What is Oil Pulling? How Reap the Benefits of Oil Pulling
Traditionally unrefined sunflower or sesame oil was used for oil pulling, but today many other oils are used as well. Unrefined olive or coconut oil come highly recommended if you don’t want to use the traditional oils.
- Ideally oil pulling should be done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
- About one tablespoon of oil should be used. You can start with less, though.
- A couple drops of essential oil or a healing oil like oregano (which might be good for thrush) can be added if desired.
- Swish the oil slowly and methodically, not vigorously.
- Try to make sure the oil reaches every region of your mouth.
- Be careful not to swallow the oil.
- Continue swishing the oil for at least 10 minutes, preferably more like 20 minutes.
- The oil will become very thin and foamy as you swish.
- Spit the oil out and rinse your mouth thoroughly with pure water.
- Brush with a natural toothpaste afterwards.
Oil pulling can be done as often as you like. Daily sessions are recommended if you have specific health problems you are trying to address with oil pulling. This traditional practice is also an excellent measure to add to your daily routine to facilitate detoxification and overall health.
Get rid of static cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and static is gone.
Brush away Cellulite
Tip #1: Define what dry brushing is.
The dry brushing procedure takes care of the detoxification of your skin. It is a means of stimulating a number of organs in your body to detoxify due to the fact that it gives a tender interior massage. The many advantages of dry brushing include: eliminating cellulite; cleansing the lymphatic structure; eliminating dead skin coatings; making the immune system stronger; stimulating the hormone and oil producing glands; tightening the skin to prevent untimely aging; making the quality of your muscles better; stimulating circulation; enhancing the performance of the nervous system; aids digestion and most of all, it is considered as the simplest and cheapest way of rejuvenating your skin.
Tip #1: Choose your brush.
Make sure to use a smooth natural fiber brush that has an elongated handle to be able to get through to the entire parts of your body. One of the better options is the brush that has a detachable head and strap.
Tip #2: Do it with a waterless body.
Constantly dry brush your waterless and bare body prior to taking a bath or shower. This is to rinse off all the dirt from your skin that was shredded from the brushing movement.
Tip #3: Dry brush from head to toe or vice-versa.
It is of no importance where to begin the process to remove cellulite with dry brushing as long as you brush your whole body. You should extensively rub beginning from the base of your feet going up, and from your hand up to your shoulders, and on the chest going up to aid pump out the lymph back to your heart. It is important to utilize weightless force over the parts of the skin that are skinny and firm force on parts such as the soles of your feet.
Tip #4: Do it once a day.
You should skin brush only once daily, particularly during early morning. Brushing the skin comprehensively will take around 15 minutes. If you are not feeling well, intensifying the brushing two times daily is considered excellent. You must dry brush the parts of your body with cellulite from 5 to 10 minutes two times daily to obtain cellulite melting. However, the process should be performed consistently for at least five months.
Tip #5: Remember a few more tips.
Keep away from brushing thin-skinned parts of your body as well as broken skin like skin rash, lesions, and infectivity. When you get out of the shower, make sure to dry your skin and rubdown your skin using pure plant oil like olive, avocado, apricot, almond, sesame, coconut or cocoa butter. Sanitize your skin brush with soap and water at least once weekly then dry it in open air and under a sunny place to avoid mildew development.

Beauty secrets....shhhh....
2 cups white cane sugar
¼ cup lemon juice
¼ cup water
The juice from two lemons gave me 1/4 cup, but be sure to strain it to rid any pulp or seeds. You could probably use lemon juice concentrate as well.
Mix ingredients in a heavy sauce pan over a medium-high heat. Stir the mixture often so that it doesn't overheat at the bottom.
This recipe can be used for both face and body sugaring. Many people are turning to this hair removal method because it's gentler to the skin and less painful than waxing.
Using a heavy sauce pan is extremely important. If the sauce pan is thin it can throw off the entire temperature and overheat the sugar, making it cook too quickly. Cooking fast isn't good; it needs this time to simmer. So I would suggest using a heavy, stainless steel pan if possible.
After it comes to a boil, turn the heat down to low-medium and simmer for 25 minutes. This length of time is needed to get the final product just right. If it's not cooked long enough, the end sugar hair removal product will be too sticky to work with.
Caution. If you only have a thin saucepan, a low-medium heat may be too high of a temperature to simmer. Keep the temperature as low as you need so that it's only simmering, not boiling and turning dark too quickly.
You will see the hair sugaring mixture darken as the time goes along. But this isn't just the right color yet, it still needs to cook a little bit longer.
After 25 minutes of simmering, the sugar hair removal result should be a dark amber color. Remove it from the heat and let it cool for about ten minutes before placing in an air-tight container. Be careful, it's hot.
If product comes out to hard put one tablespoon of water into the mixture and microwave it until it gets hot- which may be a couple of minutes.
Remove from microwave and stir. Let it cool down a bit to use as sugaring gel or completely cool to use as sugaring paste.
Directions for use
Skin will need to be cleansed of lotions and oils so the sugar paste doesn't slide off the skin.
If you don't have a special cleanser to use before hair removal, take a bath or shower and wash skin thoroughly, but hold off on applying any serums, moisturizers or lotions.
Before sugaring at home, apply a light dusting of baby powder or cornstarch and rub softly into skin. Remember, more isn't better. Applying too much powder will interfere with removing the hair. Powder acts as a buffer helping the paste to grasp the hair better and stick less to the skin.
If you have made the sugaring paste on the same day and have waited for it to cool down, you can use it while it has a little bit of warmth to it. If it's been stored then you can soften it up a bit. Microwave it for five seconds at a time on high until it's soft and you're able to spread it without too much effort. So for the body, take out a good scoop. If you're going to use it for you face, then take a smaller section. It can be fairly sticky to work with, especially if it's humid out. So you may want to wear gloves. The sugaring paste will be like a big blob in your hand, but don't apply it to your skin just yet. Now you will take the sugaring product and roll it into a ball. Don't press too hard, just work it lightly in your hands. So when you do apply it, the paste will be warmed up a bit by your body heat go on more even. You're now going to apply sugar to hair in the OPPOSITE direction of growth firmly allowing the paste to spread as you somewhat slowly pull it. You need to use some pressure and feel like you're pressing the paste against the skin for it to stick. You're not just laying it on top of the hair. This technique can take some getting used to. The paste can remove hair as short as 1/16. You're now going to be sugaring hair off holding skin taut with your free hand using a fast flicking motion with your hand and removing the paste in the SAME direction of hair growth.
You don't want to pull your hand up, but aim for way over to the other side. You won't remove as much hair or cause breakage if you pull your straight hand up.
By removing hair in the same direction of growth also helps to avoid breaking the hair follicle either above or below the skin's surface. This means, you'll get longer-lasting hair-free results and avoid pesky ingrown hairs. If all of the sugar doesn't come off, just put the sugar that's already in your hand with the part that is left and remove in the same fast, flicking motion.
Continuing the Process
Keep working in sections on the area that you're removing hair. One section of paste can be made into a ball again and re-applied a couple times and then needs to be thrown away.
If you miss some hair, you can apply it over the same area skin more than once (unlike waxing) but I wouldn't recommend it more than a couple times.
Where to Sugar : This paste is great for sugaring the body like on your legs, arms, bikini zone- virtually anywhere. It's also wonderful to use on your face, but I would be extremely careful on your eyebrows. I wouldn't try eyebrow shaping with the paste until you really get this technique down. Otherwise, you could be left with a really bad shape from taking hairs you weren't intending.
Finishing: Once you're all done, just rinse area with soap and water. That's a big plus with sugaring, it's water soluble (also unlike waxing).
Because hands can carry a lot of bacteria, try to avoid touching sugared area the first 24 hours to lessen the amount of irritation and potential pimples.
